Tailings Dam Raise 2015

In 2015 CPH Mining & Civil completed a tailings dam raise project for BHP (Coal Projects). This project involved raising the existing embankments to enhance the dam’s capacity and structural integrity.

Key services provided by CPH for this project include:

• Removal of existing features in the construction footprint
• Excavation and preparation of embankment foundations
• Placement and compaction of earthfill materials in three zones
• Topsoiling, hydromulching, and seeding of the downstream batter
• Reinstatement of the tailings pipelines on the crest of the raised embankments
• Constructing the embankment raise using coarse coal rejects, 1B outer embankment, and 1A (clay) inner embankment.
