Tailings Dam Raise 2016-2017

Between September 2016 and May 2017, CPH Mining & Civil completed a Tailings Dam Raise project for BHP (Coal Projects). This project involved raising perimeter embankments and a centreline raise of an internal decant access embankment to enhance the dam’s capacity and structural integrity.

Key services provided by CPH:

• Upstream and downstream raises to perimeter embankments
• Centreline raise of an internal decant access embankment
• Construction of a new, raised emergency overflow external spillway
• Reinstatement of tailings delivery pipelines and discharge spigots
• Temporary and permanent relocation of the existing decant return water pipeline
• Topsoiling, hydromulching, and grass seeding of the downstream batter.
